| Joanna Theodorakou was recently awarded with a Bachelor of Arts in filmmaking from the University of Westminster. She specialized in cinematography and has shown a great interest in both film and still photography. She has worked on several projects, shot on film and video and has experimented on various techniques. She has been influenced from noir and neo noir films which is reflected in her frequent use of low-key lighting. The avant garde movement has also a been a key inspiration in her work
Her still photography has been mostly concentrated on Asian countries as she admires their photogenic nature and their in depth meaning of life, religion and culture. At the moment she is co-directing a documentary, exploring the transgender theme, to be screened at the London Gay and Lesbian Film Festival 2008 held by the British Film Institute. During the coming season she will be working on her first feature film, a horror movie by Leonis Productions, as a Unit Production Manager.
